These are intense times and the people I’m talking with are feeling it.
And while the world order is collapsing and being re-organized, you still have the responsibility of getting groceries, dropping your kids off to school, and answering emails 🫠
I know many of you deeply care about what’s going on in the world and are working to do your part to fight fascism 👊🏽 It’s a lot by any standards and there’s also SO much to be triggered by.
I’m also finding my way around navigating the news cycle, and while I’m no expert, what I do know is that we all have to find the ways that are right for us to metabolize what’s coming up because, inevitably, the things you’re most triggered by are hitting your core wounds.
And sometimes it’s hard to figure out if your reaction is due to something happening in the present or it’s a past experience or pattern showing up to be addressed.
Without knowing the specifics, I’m going to guess it’s likely a little bit of both.
Look, we are human and we’re going to have human reactions — fear, grief, rage, and everything in between. And we can choose to be reactive or proactive.
It takes a lot more bandwidth to be proactive — I get that it’s not easy, but I also feel like if we don’t dig down to heal what’s coming up and deeply resource ourselves, then we’re leaving ourselves open to constantly reacting to everything that’s going on around us.
So how do you find your ground?
As someone who’s been practicing mind-body medicine for over 15 years, I literally have an arsenal of things that I lean on for support. What I’ve got on rotation is the gym, yoga and meditation, acupuncture, float tank, walking in the woods, EMDR, community gardening, regular connection with like-minded friends.
I schedule these things and make sure I have them on repeat because healing and metabolizing our emotions is not a one and done. And the more I do it, the clearer I am – clearer in my thoughts, conviction, and action.
I would love for that to be true for you as well.
Maybe you’ve been on your healing path for a while and you’ve done a lot of work processing your early trauma. You understand how it’s impacted you and made some changes in your life, but the underlying anxiety, worry, or overthinking is still there
You’re still second-guessing your choices, people-pleasing when you know you need to set a boundary, and even though you recognize your patterns, you freeze up when you need to take action.
This is when a somatic approach can be SO powerful. You learn how to metabolize your feelings so your body doesn’t stop you from taking action — it doesn’t have to protect you anymore because you’re working with your body and nervous system and not telling yourself your brain knows better and pushing through.
If you’re seeking this type of grounded support to help you navigate the intensity of these times and find your ground and agency, book your free consultation call here.
I’d love to talk about how working together could truly transform your energy, health, and relationships!
